I am very excited to announce that not one but two of my photos have been chosen as Winners in this years Portrait Of Britain<\/a> competition. The Portrait Of Britain is a photography exhibition run by the British Journal Of Photograph<\/a>y which, in their own words, celebrates the rich tapestry of people that make up Great Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both of the portraits will be published in Volume 3<\/a> of the accompanying book published by those wonderful photography book publishers Hoxton Mini Press<\/a> (join their mailing list<\/a> to receive info about lots of new and old photo books), and the portraits will also be displayed on JCDecaux<\/a> screens across the country during the month of September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One fascinating element to the selected portraits is that they both represent something not only quintessentially British, but something almost exclusively English. Set against a background of Brexit and the differing approaches<\/a> of the Devolved Governments of the United Kingdom to the Coronavirus Pandemic<\/a>, do these portraits of people involved in long established pastimes take on even greater significance?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regular readers will recognise the photo of the Bell Ringer from my COVID-19 stalled series on bell ringers<\/a>, which was also selected for the Portrait Salon<\/a> exhibition and book as mentioned in this blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
