I came across these paragliders, down by the coast a couple of weeks ago, and watched in awe as they took off around me. I like to keep my feet firmly on the ground so could only admire them as they jumped off the cliff, with only a big sheet to keep them from crashing into the rocks and sea below!

Some of them were quite experienced by the look of them, although one person was being shown how to operate the paraglider itself, by going on a tandem flight with an instructor. Although it look like they are being dragged off the edge in this photo, they were in fact both willing to go!

Quite interestingly there was some low hung cloud a bit further up and the instructor flew the paraglider into and out the clouds again. I’m not sure if I would have felt better in the cloud and not seeing the ground far away beneath me, rather than out in the open!

I hung around for a while taking photos, but then remembered that, when I photographed the open sea water swimmers in Ireland, they were desperate for me to go for a swim with them, so I decided to leave in case the paragliders made the same offer…
