Working With Actors To Win New Business For Clients

  • by

I met some great characters as part of an advertising campaign for the wealth management arm of Oury Clark. They were all actors who were totally up for acting out the humorous stories that the art directors at 3Flow Creative had written for them.

Shooting in the fabulous Shutter House Studios in North London for a change, where coffee was free flowing and there was no need to worry about the elements, I could control the lighting precisely as I wanted it rather than working round what was being given to me by nature, or indoor lighting designers and architects.

Although the set was minimal I still had to work hard on the lighting especially for the two men who were both wearing peaked caps, which always offers a bit of challenge. Once the lighting was set though I could concentrate of getting the best out of the models.

Actors are great to work with as they take direction well and are always willing to try new things, as well as offer their own input to the creative process. In this case the characters they were playing had all had their lifetime dreams shattered by poor financial advice.

I had a great team in the studio and we worked together to produce some great results which were all very much a collaborative effort.

The initial campaign is for four scenarios which will appear as OOH advertising on bill boards, trains stations and in train carriages, primarily in the South East Of England. The posters all have a QR code which links back to the Oury Clark website where a short video will play highlighting the problem and offering Oury Clark as the solution. The ads themselves have been partially converted to black and white as can be seen in this image:

Although I mainly work on location it was great to be in a studio environment again where things can often be more considered because there is no need to shoot when the light is right, because studio light is totally controllable to give me the look I want.
